What happened?
I haven't seen something this pure in all my life. The worlds most popular band of all time playing like no one's opinion matters. It's always been mind boggling to me how a band this popular with such an absurd amount of fans was able to constantly make whatever kind of music they want and not let the pressure of their fame, fans or label get to them. They constantly pushed the boundaries and in a way turned their backs on everyone's expectations in order to exceed them. Maybe they just couldn't comprehend the magnitude of what they were doing. Here's the world's most popular band in a studio with anything imaginable at their disposal and John is sitting on the floor as if oblivious to the fact that the music that he is making is changing the world as we know it (even to this day).
Something clearly has been lost over the years. Musicians have become slaves to other people's expectations. How is anything ever going to advance in music again if all of the musicians keep writing music to appeal to everyone?

Curtians for the Pirate Bay
Today the 4 founders of the site The Pirate Bay were found guilty of copyright infringement and sentenced to 1 year of prison and a £2.4 million fine in damages that they will pay to various labels however the founders would "rather burn everything they own than pay the fine."

It's a sad day for the music industry, simply because the labels won this battle. I'm all for the music industry's success, but attempting to stop a wildfire like piracy simply isn't productive. They can't continue trying to stop piracy by filing lawsuits if they want to get out of the rut that they are in, they need to adapt. It's happened before with cassette tapes. Labels tried to sue Sony for manufacturing a means of copying music. They could have tried all they wanted but it wouldn't stop people from copying cassettes, they had to adapt, come out with something more appealing to the consumer and impossible to duplicate: the CD. That lasted a few years and even when CD burners came out it still didn't effect the industry too much, until Napster came out. They need to reinvent themselves yet again and find something more appealing to the consumer than illegally downloading music. They need to find a way to make profit off of offering free downloads. Advertising, some kind of special 360 deals, whatever...they just need to start trying something new.

When will they learn...
yet another group of pro football athletes have started a band
Presenting: the self proclaimed "heaviest band in the world" Free Reign
http://www.myspace.com/freereign
why is it that history always repeates itself?
heres a recap of the other football musicians:
the icing on the cake is the Free Reign's next show is with the glam rock band that KFB played with about a month ago, The Vettes

If you ever want to feel like a complete badass
I recommend walking somewhere listening to the album XTRMNTR by Primal Scream. What an album! It's about ten years old and was pretty ahead of its time.
Here's the music video for the first track "Kill All Hippies", the title is meant to be sort of sarcastic because its about how screwed up America is. If you watch the video you'll see a bunch of soldiers flying jets and athletes, it's a statement about America's views on war...I'll let you do your own interpretation...
Also it's kind of interesting that it was released before 911

I want to make something real...I want to make a Yaz record
I'm tired of people starting bands because they want all the icing on the cake to being in a rock band: booze, money, drugs and/or girls. The Stones may be known for their drug use or McJagger's absurd amount of illegitimate sons, but in their early years it was clear that they made music because they wanted to make something real and something new. All the girls and drugs were just a side effect. Now rock and roll is becoming more and more of a formula (pop sound + bad boy image + something that fans can relate to = sex, drugs, rock and roll and money....Nickleback??). As a result genuine heartfelt music is becoming more and more hard to come by. Even the Stones have crossed over to the dark side eventually (but you still gotta love them), but somehow people like Bob Dylan and Neil Young manage to crank out incredible music to this day because they simply can't stop, and they could care less whether or not you like it. It's not a pay check for them, it's an addiction. Now all the baby bands are filling the formula to reap the benefits. Kings of Leon could have reached paramount success by creating genuine rock and roll like they did in their earlier years, but Only By the Night was a huge shortcut. Sure they've been in the charts ever since the album came out, but now the people that used to make fun of "hipsters" for dressing like KOL are KOL's biggest fans....whats wrong with this picture?! Slow and steady wins the race, they could have stayed on track with their older more cutting edge music and gotten the same success with enough hard work (their original fans would respect them a lot more too) but instead they released the next Viva La Vida: a hybrid of Pearl Jam and U2 (and I quote from Chris Martin "It’s a plagiarist’s paradise. We used to just be able to steal off Radiohead. Now we can steal off everybody." If Coldplay is in it to make music, then I'm 4'6" tall). Has anyone ever read the Great Gatsby or any of the other countless books and movies about the American dream?! Materialism DOES NOT WORK OUT. Do what you love because you love it, not to make money or pick up girls...I'm talking to you Nashville!
I'll finish my absurd rant with this riddle...twenty years down the road who will you remember and tell your kids about: The Black Eyed Peas (the current #1 single) or Radiohead (hasn't had a single on the US charts in the last 12 years except for Nude making it to #38 last year)
Anyways sorry for the long rant...I don't quite know where it came from haha

reeeeeal original
the killers new live setup:
French DJ Etienne de Crecy
a rip off of a daft punk rip off...Etienne can pull it off but whats the point of seeing a band if each member is completely cut off from each other? they may as well just plug in an ipod and play a cool light show...
